Visibility and impact indicators

Activity addressed to UPC PDI and PhD students. For doctoral students, this activity belongs to the "Your doctoral thesis" training itinerary. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Sign your publications correctly
  • Recognize the main author identifiers (ORCID, etc.)
  • Get to know the UPCommons institutional repository and other thematic and data repositories, as well as Futur
  • Identify the role of social media and academic social networks in the visibility of research
  • Describe the main indicators of author and article impact
  • Characterize alternative metrics (altmetrics)

1. Visibility of researchers
   1.1. Signature and institutional affiliation
   1.2. Author identifiers (ORCID, ResearcherID, Scopus Author ID)
   1.3. Deposits and Futur.upc.edu
   1.4. Social media for research and academic social networks

2. Evaluation and impact of scientific activity
   2.1. Author and article impact indicators (citations received, h index)
   2.2. Alternative metrics: altmetrics (usage, downloads, visits, social networks)
   2.3. Assessment and accreditation

Next academic year we will schedule new sessions of this workshop.

The ICE will issue a certificate of attendance to the participants, provided they have previously registered through the established means (electronically through the web) and have been accepted.

The teaching and research staff of the UPC who participate in the activity, a few days after the end, will automatically have the information in DRAC.
