Survey on the use and satisfaction of libraries by students

In March 2019 students of the UPC participated in a survey to assess their degree of satisfaction with the libraries.

We obtained more than 3.000 answers, especially for undergraduates from all campuses, which represents an increase of 27% compared to the previous edition of the survey.

We are very pleased with the high participation and because the overall satisfaction ratio has been 4'81 over 6.

Degree of satisfaction

We would like to point out that:

  • The 93% of the students surveyed go to the library and the 62% queries the web.
  • The overall satisfaction score is 4'81 over 6 and increases 0'18 compared to the previous edition.
  • The most valued aspects have been the attention of the personnel and the loan of books (5'04 over 6) and the managements in line with a 5 on 6.
  • The lowest rated aspects are computers (4 over 6) and the capacity of libraries, especially during exams (4'22 over 6).

One of our strengths is the people who work in libraries, the vocation of service and the commitment with the users.

The results also tell us that we have to improve some aspects: students want more open hours and better facilities. They also want us to make access to information and collections easier.

We appreciate all the comments that help us to continue improving and we offer all the facilities to continue receiving your suggestions.
