How many renewals?

You can renew documents up to a maximum renewal period, which is equivalent to 6 times, as long as they have not been booked by another user, the renewal is made within the loan period, you have not exceeded the maximum renewal period, you have no documents pending return and you are not blocked.

How do I renew my loans?

When the loan is about to expire, you will receive a notice from the library that owns the document. To renew:

  1. Access the space My Account of DiscoveryUPC.
  2. Select the tab Loans and the institution that owns the document in the menu on the left. Institutions whose documents you have on loan have a mark to the right of the name:

  1. If renewal is possible, click the button Renovate

You can return the documents to:

* Mailboxes located inside the school. The mailbox schedule depends on the center's opening hours
You have the obligation to return the documents when the loan term ends, as long as you do not have a renewal authorization and do it under the same physical conditions in which you have lent it.

If you return the documents late, it will be applied a penalty point for each day of delay and for each document.

If you do not return the damaged documents or returns, you will have to return them with copies of the same edition or similar characteristics (if they are exhausted), or with the equivalent value as determined by the CBUC annually.

Until this is not met, you will be excluded from this service, regardless of other measures that may apply.

Copies not available from the PUC may be available through the Interlibrary Loan (IP). Request them by clicking the PI Form option from the full registration screen:

Some recommendations when booking PUC at DiscoveryUPC:

  • Always prioritize the option Book at UPC if local copies are available. It will reach you sooner.
  • See the button Order by PUC does not guarantee that another institution can use the document. When you open the PUC application form you will see if there are copies available to order.
  • In the form Order by PUC don't forget to indicate the library where you want to receive the document.
  • If you don't see the button Order by PUC may be because:
    • the document cannot be reserved
    • you have a penalty or block. The button will be visible again when the penalty expires.
  • If you want to book a work in different volumes:
    • you must fill out a request for each volume.
    • make sure beforehand if copies are available on the UPC clicking on the name of the Libraries UPC. The button Book at UPC appears next to each copy to be able to request a specific volume
  • In the event that the document cannot be provided, you will receive a notice of cancellation of the request by e-mail and almost immediately.
