Thermometer open access UPC

The open access thermometer of the UPC aims to monitor the results of the open publication of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and show if the open publication grows, diminishes or stabilizes.

For the main academic publications, the thermometer shows the number of publications open to UPCommons, the Institutional Deposit of the UPC in relation to the total number of publications of the university community. The information is updated annually.

Magazine articles

This indicator shows the number of open magazine articles based on the data contained in the corporate information systems of the UPC DRAC, the Descriptor of Research and Academic Activity i UPCommons.

Methodology:

  • The total number of magazine articles published annually by the UPC is extracted from DRAC
  • The number of magazine articles published annually in open by the UPC is extracted fromUPCommons
  • The articles with embargo period are considered open access.
  • Data obtained in October 2020.
  • To check the number of articles UPC published in open or hybrid open access magazines and in institutional or thematic repositories,Open Access Observatory. 

Llibres 

This indicator shows the number of books published in open access by the UPC

Methodology:

  • This indicator shows the number of books published in open access by the UPC.
  • The data referring to the total number of books published by the UPC as well as their seizure they are extracted from the Editecwin application, supporting editorial management.
  • The data regarding the number of available books already in open access are extracted fromUPCommons, the institutional repository of the UPC.
  • Books in open access are considered, both those that have a seizure period, and those already accessible to the institutional repository. 
  • Data obtained in October 2020.
     

PhD theses:

This indicator shows the number of doctoral theses read at the UPC available in open access.

This indicator shows the number of Final Degree Projects (TFG) presented in the UPC available in open access.

  • Open Final Projects are also considered open access with seizure.
  • The 2019 data will be presented in the next update.  
  • Data obtained in October 2020.

This indicator shows the number of Official Master's Final Projects (PFMO) presented at the UPC available in open access.
