José Pérez del Río, Head of Machinery of the Merchant Navy, was professor of Marine Machinery at the Official Nautical School for more than forty years. In 1983 he presented his thesis, becoming the first Doctor in Marine Sciences in the whole State.
His pedagogy stood out for its human side, for his intellectual stature and for his love of the profession, characteristics that made him greatly admired and respected among his students and colleagues.
Author of several books translated into different languages, some of them still valid for the studies of the Naval Engineers career, highlighting his work General treatise on marine machinery.
