Spanish mathematical production: state of the art

The last issue of the Notices of the American Society (vol 68, núm 4, april 2021) publish the article: Geography and MathSciNet® / Mathematical Reviews of Edward Dunne. It shows the evolution of the mathematical production published on MathSciNet in different countries throughout the years 1985, 1999 and 2019. At the Spanish level it is necessary to emphasize:

  • The number of publications has been constant, from 753 articles in 1985 to 3.650 articles in 2019. 
  • Spain ranks 20th in relation to the number of publications per million inhabitants. 
  • The 17 journals published in Spain and indexed on MathSciNet help internationalization.
  • 876 Spanish mathematicians work as reviewers on MathSciNet, ranking 7th by country.
