Exhibition at the Library of theETSAB: DISCASTED, the unbuilt metropolis

The exhibition DISMISSED It brings together a selection of forgotten architectural and urban projects from the history of Barcelona. The chronological framework covers the period of expansion of the city, in the mid-19th century, to the present day.
In parallel to the current Barcelona, there is another imagined and unbuilt Barcelona that takes shape through projects rejected in competitions or discarded for various reasons, especially economic and political.

The exhibition presents some of these projects, as well as other strictly speculative proposals, which express the ideas and dreams of a Barcelona different from the one we know. Despite having been ignored, many of these projects have had a certain influence on the configuration of the real city.

DISMISSED is the result of the exhibition curation workshop developed within the subject "Architecture in Exhibitions. Histories, Ideas and Practices", of the Theory, History and Culture line of the MBArch, Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Architecture. It has been conceived, designed and managed entirely by the students who have taken the subject this year.
The documentary base of the exhibition is made up of magazines and books from the Oriol Bohigas Library of theETSAB, as well as copies of drawings and plans from various city archives.
