ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE ARCHIVE OF CATALONIA (APAC)

Archive of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia (APAC)

The Architectural Heritage Archive of Catalonia - APAC - was born in 2003 on the initiative of the professor Benedict Mecca Acosta and with the support of the EPSEB Library with the commitment to collect, preserve and disseminate the Final Study Projects of the Catalan architectural heritage and the rest of the Mon presented to the School.

That fund, initially in paper format and dedicated mainly to Catalan heritage, grew with the projects directed from all the disciplines taught at the School such as geomatics, construction or the graphic representation, among others, also expanding its territorial scope. To the paper format, over the years, the digital formats were added forming a living and accessible collection that now wants to be made visible.

Numerous end of studies works were the result of the establishment of educational cooperation agreements which allowed the student to enrich his training and at the same time promoted links with entities and institutions in the environment. The typology of these ranges from large monumental ensembles property of public administrations or private entities until unique constructions passing by archaeological sites.

Many of these works go beyond a final project of studies. In the words of professor Sònia Loewe: "Behind the rigor of the work there is an interpretation and record of the building as if it were a historical document. Unfortunately, many of our works testify to buildings that have already disappeared, in the face of these losses we will always have the graphic testimony".
