Pre-industrial production in Catalonia takes place in buildings such as: tanneries, furnaces, wells (of ice or lime), mills, forges... These pre-industrial spaces are often located in rural environments characterized by the use of a manual technology. It will be in the middle of the XNUMXth century, once industrialization arrives, the time when some activities will maintain the traditional productive system until its extinction while other proto-industries will evolve and adopt new productive models. These pre-industrial models have bequeathed us a diversity of fundamental building typologies to understand our own history.
