Title: A submersible drill rig for coring soils and rocks Authors: Devincenzi, M.J.; Pérez Garcia, N.; Samoili, K.; Arroyo Alvarez de Toledo, Marcos Abstract: The paper describes the design and initial field-testing of a remotely operated submersible drill rig able to obtain continuous cores of soil and/or rock up to 6 m long. The rig mast angle is hydraulically actuated covering 90 degrees of altitude. This enables both a fully horizontal position used for deployment onto and recovery of the rig from the seabed, as well as a fully vertical position during coring. The frame is equipped with positioning and inclination sensors for accurate register of core orientation. Coring equipment with diameter of up to 133 mm can be mounted in the rig, thus enabling the recovery of relatively large-diameter cores. The coring operation is fully instrumented and all the drill operation parameters like torque, thrust, advance, injection rate and pressure are recorded. The equipment is adapted for geotechnical investigation of the renewable energy industry, as well as pipelines, cables and dredging requiring platform or near shore site investigation. The equipment is deployable from a variety of platforms and does not require a fully-fledged drill ship.

Such was the case with the Cisco Nexus virtual switching environment. However, possible security issues of this environment have not been evaluated and the achievable energy savings have not been quantified yet. In particular, it was necessary to investigate whether the security vulnerabilities existing in physical switches had persisted into the virtual environment. This paper provides an evaluation of the energy saving and an analysis of the security implications of the Cisco Nexus virtual distributed switching environment.

Title: Desarrollo de herramientas para la evaluación preliminar de la peligrosidad de corrientes detríticas Authors: Bregoli, Francesco; Bateman Pinzón, Allen; Medina Iglesias, Vicente César de; Hurlimann Ziegler, Marcel Abstract: Con el objetivo de proporcionar recomendaciones para la alerta temprana de fenómenos potencialmente desencadenantes de corrientes detríticas (“Debris Flow”), uno de los temas principales es la identificación preliminar de zonas de riesgo. Esta identificación es sustancialmente diferente de los mapas de riesgo que se suelen realizar por las autoridades de cuenca con el fin de dar una guía para planes de gestión del territorio. En el caso de alerta temprana, una identificación más aproximativa de las zonas de riesgo es suficiente. En esta perspectiva, los dos componentes del riesgo, peligrosidad y vulnerabilidad, se pueden estimar de una manera simplificada. En este trabajo se han desarrollado unas herramientas para la evaluación rápida de peligro por corrientes detríticas. Se han adaptado metodologías existentes y modelos simplificados y se ha llevado a cabo un útil paquete común de metodologías para una rápida evaluación de la peligrosidad. Se modelan tanto la iniciación como la propagación de corrientes detríticas. Uno de los requisitos del proyecto es definir una herramienta utilizable en diferentes contextos donde el nivel de detalle en los datos de entrada puede ser muy variado. Para lograr este objetivo se define un enfoque multinivel. La metodología se aplica en tres cuencas con características diferentes.

Title: Mitigation of the finger loading effect in handset antennas Authors: Anguera Pros, Jaume; Andujar, Aurora; Camps, Albert; Puente Baliarda, Carles; Picher, Cristina Abstract: The effect of the human body over the radiation of handset antennas is a critical issue that have to be considered to ensure a good handset antenna performance. Among the human body effect, the finger is of particular interest since it is usually placed over the antenna area which may cause detuning and/or reduction of the efficiency. To mitigate the finger loading effects, a novel handset antenna consisting of two small antennas distributed along the ground plane is proposed. The distributed antenna system is compared with a single antenna having a broadband matching network, so both designs feature enough bandwidth to cover the GSM850 (824-890MHz) and GSM900 (880-960MHz) communication systems. The finger effect is analyzed in terms of efficiency using a phantom hand. Efficiency is measured for different finger locations concluding that the distributed antenna system is more robust to the finger loading effect.

Abstract: We present a nucleosynthesis study of the merger of a 0.4 M? helium white dwarf with a 0.8 M? carbon-oxygen white dwarf, coupling the thermodynamic history of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics particles with a post-processing code. The resulting chemical abundance pattern, particularly for oxygen and fluorine, is in qualitative agreement with the observed abundances in R Coronae Borealis stars.

Abstract: This paper proposes extensions to the OSPF-TE protocol to enable green routing in GMPLS-controlled optical networks. Simulation results show a remarkable reduction in CO 2 emissions by preferring network elements powered by green energy sources in the connection routing.

Title: A novel condition monitoring scheme for bearing faults based on Curvilinear Component Analysis and hierarchical neural networks Authors: Delgado Prieto, Miquel; Cirrincione,, Giansalvo; García Espinosa, Antonio; Ortega Redondo, Juan Antonio; Henao, Humberto Abstract: Mostly the faults in electrical machines are related with the bearings. Thus, a reliable bearing condition monitoring scheme able to detect either local or distributed defects are mandatory to avoid a breakdown in the machine. So far, the research has been carried out mainly in the detection of local faults, such as balls and raceways faults, but surface roughness is not so reported. This paper deals with a novel and reliable scheme capable to detect any fault that may occur in a bearing, based on EXIN Curvilinear Component Analysis, CCA, and Neural Network. The EXIN CCA, which is an improvement of the Curvilinear Component Analysis, has been conceived for data visualization, interpretation and classification for real time industrial applications. The effectiveness of this condition monitoring scheme has been verified by experimental results obtained from different operation conditions.

Abstract: With an increase in the number of processors on a single chip, programming environments which facilitate the exploitation of par- allelism on multicore architectures have become a necessity. StarSs is a task-based programming model that enables a flexible and high level programming. Although task synchronization in StarSs is based on data flow and dependency analysis, some applications (e.g. reductions )require locks to access shared data. Transactional Memory is an alternative to lock-based synchronization for controlling access to shared data. In this paper we explore the idea of integrating a lightweight Software Transactional Memory (STM) library, TinySTM , into an implementation of StarSs (SMPSs). The SMPSs run- time and the compiler have been modified to include and use calls to the STM library. We evaluated this approach on four applications and observe better performance in applications with high lock contention.

Title: The next city: low density territories in the metropolitan area of Barcelona Authors: Sotoca García, Adolfo; Massuet, Maria Abstract: In 2010 the Metropolitan Territorial Plan of Barcelona (PTMB) was approved. The plan is conceived as a strategic tool where some more specific and detailed planning will be framed in the next future. Some of the themes and challenges the detailed planning will be addressed to are here for the first time considered, since the scale the plan covers has been never approached before. For the first time the low density developments in this territory are faced as a whole phenomenon that needs to be readdressed. The Plan defines the “Specialized Residential Areas to Restructure” (AERR) which are low density residential areas in the form of continuous large-scale urban settlements, usually placed on steep areas, where physical conditions are critical to residential uses. These areas will be subject to further planning committed with the improvement the basic living conditions of its physical environment. This paper announces the description of these strategic lines which were applied in form of analysis over the AERR. The goal of the research is to obtain some useful criteria for further renewal of low density territories in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.

Title: RE-frame, RE-place, RE-site : three strategies for future housing environments Authors: Sotoca García, Adolfo Abstract: The paper states the need to rethink the planning approach that deals with housing developments of the future city. Considerations regarding the scale of the project, its role in a wider temporal context and the identity of the site where new extensions will be located,are necessary considerations in the field of urbanism. Between 2008 and 2009 Catalonia became a research field of exceptional interest in this series of reflections. During this short period of time a huge effort in planning and managing policies for housing development was done. AS a result of itthree major key Plans where undertaken by public administration. CSArquitectes, the planning office of which the author of the article is a founding partner, was the only invited firm to actively participate in all three processes. Through the description of CSArquitectes’ proposalsthe article argues the need to take in special consideration the concepts of scale, time and identity when planning new housing areas.

Title: Planificació del Cicle Formatiu Grau Superior d’Administració (CFGS) de Sistemes Informàtics en Xarxa (ASIX) i del Mòdul Professional “Programació Bàsica” (M3). Authors: De Arriba Bodelón, Jorge Abstract: El recent canvi de sistema educatiu del ja extint LOGSE a LOE, ha suposat un trasbals en molts centres educatius, degut a la imminent necessitat d’adaptar els continguts i els currículums a les noves directrius i exigències d’aquest canvi normatiu. Durant la meva experiència en la realització del Pràcticum, vaig poder comprovar que efectivament, la feina que comporta aquest trasbals normatiu, així com el poc temps disponible per fer-ne l’adaptació, suposa un problema per a molts dels docents al centre, i més concretament, pel Departament d’Informàtica de l’Institut Marianao, on encara conviuen cicles del ja antic model LOGSE amb la nova oferta formativa que proposen els cicles LOE. Així, vaig pensar que una bona oportunitat per tal de dotar d’utilitat al treball final de màster era la generació de tot aquesta adaptació de material, així com de l’organització d’algun dels seus mòduls. En el meu cas concret, m’he centrat en dos aspectes rellevants: primerament, la planificació del CFGS d’Administració de Sistemes Informàtics en Xarxa (ASIX), entrant a valorar tant el tema d’horaris, anàlisi del perfil professional i el currículum, metodologia, espais i recursos necessaris i distribució dels mòduls en els 2 anys que l’integren. En un segon terme, el treball entra a tractar sobre la programació del mòdul “M3-Programació Bàsica” d’aquest mateix cicle. Concretament, aquest mòdul, és d’impartició exclusiva a Catalunya, fet que provoca que no quasi no existeixin directrius ni informació sobre com plantejar-ho i poder dur a terme l’activitat completa d’un curs, on els alumnes que hi arriben, no tenen pràcticament coneixements previs. Així, s’ha programat el mòdul des dels seus primers passos (horari, distribució en nuclis formatius) fins aprofundir en el disseny dels tres tipus d’activitat pedagògica sobre el que hem basat l’aprenentatge dels alumnes: coneixements teòrics a través de classes magistrals exemplificades, pràctiques cooperatives i proves de nivell per tal de capacitar a tots els implicats en el mòdul, en la consecució de les capacitats tècniques i resultats d’aprenentatge necessaris.

Title: Material didàctic i recursos del Mòdul Professional “Gestió de Projectes de instal?lacions de Telecomunicacions” corresponent al CFGS Sistemes de Telecomunicacions i informàtics Authors: Meixide Vázquez, Manuel Abstract: Telecomunicacions i Informàtics en programació LOGSE. Ja està publicat en el BOE el nou currículum en versió LOE per aquest cicle. Introduint conceptes que necessiten nous materials didàctics. Amb un mon empresarial tan canviant, apareixen noves tècniques de gestió de projectes, metodologies, etc..., i és aquí on neix aquesta proposta de TFM. Es tractaria de crear un material motivador adaptat a la realitat de l’alumne i aplicar?ho al context laboral, amb tècniques de gestió informatitzades. El material que es vol elaborar es centra en el Resultat d’Aprenentatge: “Planificar el muntatge d’instal?lacions de telecomunicacions...” (BOEnº176 de 23 de Juliol 2011, pag82318). Tot i que també es relaciona directament amb altres RA del mateix mòdul (elaborar pressupostos, planificació aprovisionament, etc ).

Title: Utilització TIC per a elaborar recursos didàctics per a la comprensió de representacions d’assolellament i il·luminació natural d'edificis Authors: Rodríguez Arroyo, Jorge Abstract: Aquest treball serveix per crear recursos didàctics que serveixin per la comprensió de les representacions d’assolellament i il·luminació natural dels d'edificis, amb el suport de les TIC. Aquetes representacions serviran per prendre decisions sobre les proteccions solars necessàries a incorporar a l’edifici. El material suport podrà fer-se servir en el CFGS Projectes d’edificació, al mòdul 10 Disseny i construcció d’edificis, unitat formativa 1 Definició de projectes d’edificació. Com eines TIC es fa servir els programes informàtics Google SketchUp i el complement SunTolls V2.4, ambdós software lliure i de fàcil aprenentatge i ús. SketchUp consisteix en un programari de dibuix que permet treballar amb objectes virtuals en tres i dos dimensions. El complement SunTolls permet d’una manera fàcil i intuïtiva la representació de l’assolellament i il·luminació natural dels edificis, per a prendre criteris sobre el disseny i desenvolupament d’edificis. Per últim, s’elabora una biblioteca de solucions de protecció solar, en la xarxa de continguts oberta Google Galeria 3D, per a que l’alumne pugui escollir la solució més adient a l’envolvent exterior d’una edificació, depenent de les característiques de l‘entorn (clima, orientació i assolellament).

Title: Elaboració de materials didàctics en format digital per a un curs de 2n d' ESO Authors: Boixadera Planas, Eva Abstract: Aquest treball s'ha plantejat la creació de continguts de 2on d'ESO que afavoreixen al coneixement i assoliment de les competències digitals. S'ha emfatitzat especialment en l'estudi i posada en pràctica d'activitats en l'entorn de l'educació 2.0 i les TIC; donat el context en el que estan avui en dia els centres d'educació secundària, i emfatitzat per el fet que dins l'assignatura de tecnologia es desenvolupa una part important del currículum que està relacionada amb el tractament de la informació i recursos digitals.
