Title: Estimación de riesgo sobre la salud de población/trabajadores de región industrial por contaminación de partículas suspendidas totales y óxido de azufre Authors: Rincón Polo, Gladys; Cremades Oliver, Lázaro Vicente Abstract: En regiones donde coexisten industrias pesadas con centros poblados, los trabajadores de esas industrias no sólo están expuestos a riesgos por contaminación dentro del ámbito de trabajo, sino además, están expuestos constantemente por vivir en un ambiente contaminado por las emisiones de las industrias para las cuales trabajan. En Venezuela en una franja costera de unos 90 km, cohabitan 11 industrias pesadas (petroquímicas, petroleras y cementeras) que emiten aproximadamente 4790 t/año de partículas suspendidas totales (PST) y 8376 t/año de dióxido de azufre (SO2), con 5 pequeñas ciudades que concentran 658 969 habitantes, quienes trabajan mayoritariamente de manera directa o indirecta para esas industrias. Dada la limitación para disponer de un número de estaciones de muestreo que permita establecer los niveles de concentración de estos contaminantes sobre esos centros poblados, se usa un modelo de dispersión de contaminantes en el aire para estimar dichos niveles de contaminación y así, poder establecer el riesgo sobre la salud de población/trabajadores por la contaminación de PST y SO2. Este estudio permitió establecer que los niveles de SO2 por emisiones industriales han llegado a alcanzar valores considerados de riesgo para la salud de los pobladores/trabajadores, mientras los niveles de PST por emisiones industriales, salvo contadas excepciones, se mantienen en niveles considerados seguros para la salud.

Title: Statistical properties of subgroups of free groups Authors: Bassino, Frederique; Martino, Armando; Nicaud, Cyril; Ventura Capell, Enric; Weil, Pascal Abstract: The usual way to investigate the statistical properties of finitely generated subgroups of free groups, and of finite presentations of groups, is based on the so-called word-based distribution: subgroups are generated (finite presentations are determined) by randomly chosen k -tuples of reduced words, whose maximal length is allowed to tend to infinity. In this paper we adopt a different, though equally natural point of view: we investigate the statistical properties of the same objects, but with respect to the so-called graph-based distribution, recently introduced by Bassino, Nicaud and Weil. Here, subgroups (and finite presentations) are determined by randomly chosen Stallings graphs whose number of vertices tends to infinity. Our results show that these two distributions behave quite differently from each other, shedding a new light on which properties of finitely generated subgroups can be considered frequent or rare. For example, we show that malnormal subgroups of a free group are negligible in the graph-based distribution, while they are exponentially generic in the word-based distribution. Quite surprisingly, a random finite presentation generically presents the trivial group in this new distribution, while in the classical one it is known to generically present an infinite hyperbolic group.

Title: Median graphs: a genetic approach based on new theoretical properties Authors: Ferrer Sumsi, Miquel; Valveny, Ernest; Serratosa Casanelles, Francesc Abstract: Given a set of graphs, the median graph has been theoretically presented as a useful concept to infer a representative of the set. However, the computation of the median graph is a highly complex task and its practical application has been very limited up to now. In this work we present two major contributions. On one side, and from a theoretical point of view, we show new theoretical properties of the median graph. On the other side, using these new properties, we present a new approximate algorithm based on the genetic search, that improves the computation of the median graph. Finally, we perform a set of experiments on real data, where none of the existing algorithms for the median graph computation could be applied up to now due to their computational complexity. With these results, we show how the concept of the median graph can be used in real applications and leaves the box of the only-theoretical concepts, demonstrating, from a practical point of view, that can be a useful tool to represent a set of graphs.

Title: Generalized median graph computation by means of graph embedding in vector spaces Authors: Ferrer Sumsi, Miquel; Valveny, Ernest; Serratosa Casanelles, Francesc; Riesen, Kaspar; Bunke, Horst Abstract: The median graph has been presented as a useful tool to represent a set of graphs. Nevertheless its computation is very complex and the existing algorithms are restricted to use limited amount of data. In this paper we propose a new approach for the computation of the median graph based on graph embedding. Graphs are embedded into a vector space and the median is computed in the vector domain. We have designed a procedure based on the weighted mean of a pair of graphs to go from the vector domain back to the graph domain in order to obtain a final approximation of the median graph. Experiments on three different databases containing large graphs show that we succeed to compute good approximations of the median graph. We have also applied the median graph to perform some basic classification tasks achieving reasonable good results. These experiments on real data open the door to the application of the median graph to a number of more complex machine learning algorithms where a representative of a set of graphs is needed.

Title: Carbonation of ternary building cementing materials Authors: Fernández Carrasco, Lucía; Torrens Martín, David; Martínez Ramírez, Sagrario Abstract: The carbonation processes of ettringite and calcium aluminate hydrates phases developed by hydration of calcium aluminate cement, fly ash and calcium sulphate ternary mixtures have been studied. The hydrated samples were submitted to 4% of CO2 in a carbonation chamber, and were analysed, previous carbonation and after 14 and 90 days of carbonation time, by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction; the developed morphology was performed with the 14 days carbonated samples. The results evidenced that ettringite reacts with CO2 after 14 days of exposition time and evolves totally at 90 days; the developed hydrated phases C3AH6 in samples with major CAC content, also reacts with CO2. Due to carbonation, calcium carbonate – mainly vaterite but also aragonite-, depending on the initial formulation, aluminium hydroxide and gypsum were detected.

Title: Comparative study of the performance of three cross-flow ceramic membranes for water treatment Authors: Cremades Oliver, Lázaro Vicente; Rodríguez-Grau, Esteban; Rafael, Mulero; Cusidó Fàbregas, Joan Antoni Abstract: Several tests using water as effluent are used to analyse the performance of three types of microfiltration cross-flow ceramic membranes. Two of these membranes are commercial (Atech and Membralox/US Filter) and the third one is experimental. The main differences between them lie in their chemical composition (different origin of raw materials) and in their manufacturing process. The results presented here show the dominant effect of the filtering and the gel layer. Both are formed during operation acting as equalising agent between the three membranes. The membranes tested have similar performances in cross-flow operation, although permeability rates for the membrane Membralox/US Filter were about 15% higher. This increase might be due to the smoother surface formed by a second filtering ultrafiltration layer (0.01 ìm) of 10 ìm width, which probably contributes to a decrease in the thickness of the gel layer formed during operation. Using specific raw materials (non-industrial) as well as a second ultrafiltration layer improves the results in operation (performances and cleaning intervals). However, they are uneconomical because of the extra costs involved. In conclusion, low-cost membranes can achieve similar results to the commercial and more expensive ones opening up their application to new uses and emergent markets.

Title: Supercritical Carbonation of Calcium Aluminate Cement Authors: Fernández Carrasco, Lucía; Miravitlles, C; Rius, J. Abstract: The microstructural changes occurring during supercritical carbonation (scCO2) of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) and changes to its strength have been investigated. Cylindrical specimens of CAC cured at different temperatures were prepared and then subjected to scCO2. It is shown that CAC carbonation in supercritical conditions is accelerated with a positive effect on the compressive strength. Due to the scCO2 treatment, both conversion and alkaline hydrolysis are avoided. The best behaviour of the studied specimens was attained for samples cured at 25 °C. The residual compounds after the scCO2 process, i.e. monocalcium aluminate, calcium carbonate and aluminium hydroxide are durable in normal ambient conditions. Complete carbonation of CAC is particularly important for the reinforcement of CAC with polymer fibres to improve its mechanical strength.

Abstract: Potassium dawsonite is formed as an intermediate compound during the alkaline hydrolysis (AH) in calcium aluminate cements (CACs). A synthesis method of potassium dawsonite has been developed. The crystal structure of potassium dawsonite KAl(CO3)(OH)2 has been solved by direct methods from X-ray powder diffraction data and refined with the Rietveld method. It crystallises in the orthorhombic Cmcm space group with unit cells parameters a=6.3021(3) Å, b=11.9626(5) Å, c=5.6456(3) Å and Z=4. The structure consists of carboaluminate chains, formed by the basic unit [Al2(OH)4(CO3)2]2? arranged along the c axis. The carbonate groups are placed in an alternate manner at both sides of the carboaluminate chains. The carboaluminate chains are also held together by the K+ cations that are located in the middle of three such chains. Finally, the chemical reactions explaining the AH process in CACs are postulated.

Title: Materials didàctics per als continguts de l’assignatura de tecnologies de 3er d’ESO per a la plataforma Moddle Authors: Garcia Diaz, Antonio Abstract: Materials didàctics per als continguts de l’assignatura de tecnologies de 3er d’ESO per a la plataforma Moddle, pretén complementar el sistema tradicional d’ensenyament amb la incorporació de diferents activitats de diferents tipologies aprofitant un recurs, que fa relativament poc que el centre disposa, com és el sistema de gestió de l’aprenentatge (SGA) Moodle. En la primera part d’aquest treball es fa una introducció a les diferents tipologies que existeixen al mercat sobre aquestes plataformes, explicant quines són les parts principals que els composen. Tot seguit es fa un anàlisi de les plataformes en general, a on es veuran els avantatges i inconvenients que tenen associats les mateixes a nivell d’usos i a nivell d’implantació. Un cop vistes les característiques generals d’aquests sistemes, s’analitzaran les tendències a nivell global i després a nivell estatal d’aquests tipus sistemes, tractant de fer les comparatives entre programari lliure i propietari. D’aquesta manera arribarem a l’estudi de la plataforma Moodle i de la seva implantació al nostre centre. En aquest apartat, veurem l’estudi de costos tant a nivell econòmic, formatiu del professorat i temporal de la seva implantació. En la segona part d’aquest treball es plantejarà la situació de partida, com són els materials inclosos a la plataforma Moodle del centre. Per després prendre la decisió sobre els materials que voldrem desenvolupar d’entre moltes opcions. Així com posteriorment veurem el desenvolupament dels mateixos amb diferents eines que podem trobar al mercat, totalment lliures i gratuïtes, com poden ser Hot potatoes, JClic i eXe Learning. I a on finalment s’explicarà en detall els materials desenvolupats per a cada unitat didàctica o contingut del currículum de 3er d’ESO i la proposta en conjunt.

Title: Anàlisi i proposta de millores sobre l’aplicació d’un projecte de diversificació curricular (PRAXIS) Authors: Cabedo Velasco, Roger Abstract: Aquest treball recull l’estudi realitzat sobre l’aplicació en un institut públic d’un projecte de diversificació curricular. Un programa present dins el conjunt de mesures per a l’atenció a la diversitat establertes per la Generalitat de Catalunya i el Departament d’Educació, i que considera la creació d’uns grups classe diferenciats per a alumnes de 3r i 4rt curs d’ESO als quals els és difícil seguir el ritme d’aprenentatge d’una aula ordinària. Així doncs, a partir de l’aplicació d’un currículum diferenciat i d’un caràcter profesisonalitzador amb pràctiques a empresa, s’espera l’assoliment, per part de l’alumnat participant, de les competències de l’etapa i ,així, del graduat en Educació Secundària Obligatòria. A partir de la referència pertinent a la normativa, amb un recull dels diferents documents oficials al respecte, es contraposa, per començar, el que diu el marc legal amb el que s’aplica al centre, una aplicació en la que, com a realitzador del treball, he procurat ser present en tots els àmbits possibles. Així doncs, s’ha procurat, per realitzar l’avaluació del programa, l’assistència a les aules de tal manera que el treball s’ha realitzat, en bona part, in situ, vivint la realitat de les aules en directe i intercanviant impressions diàries tant amb l’alumnat com amb el col·lectiu del professorat, unes experiències que es plasmen al treball de la manera més fidel possible. A més, i com a pilar essencial per a l’estudi del programa de diversificació curricular, s’ha tingut en compte l’opinió dels seus protagonistes a partir d’una sèrie d’enquestes resoltes per la totalitat de l’alumnat integrant per i bona part del seu professorat, obtenint-se unes dades molt valuoses, tant per la realització del present projecte com per al propi centre, amb les quals realitzar una anàlisi completa. A la vegada, junt amb l’alumnat i el professorat, s’ha tingut en compte l’experiència a l’empresa per tancar les anàlisis dels 3 agents protagonistes del programa. Per acabar, amb tota la informació obtinguda i analitzada, es realitza una valoració dels resultats de l’aplicació del projecte al centre, així com, essent un dels objectius principals del treball, es proposen una sèrie de mesures aplicables en un futur destinades a la millora d’aspectes curriculars, organitzatius, estructurals i pedagògics.

Title: Estudi de les variacions de la línia de costa a la platja de Lloret de Mar Authors: Martínez Fornós, Elena Abstract: En aquest estudi, es pretén analitzar i donar solució al moviment de la platja de Lloret de Mar produït per el impacte d’onatge incident segons les direccions efectives que més afecten a la línia de la costa, la de l’Est i la del Sud. Aquest basculament, genera greus problemes donat que la platja pren un paper dissipador de l’energia de l’onatge, de forma que, aquesta es considerada un element fonamental de protecció de costes.
