Title: Reconstrucció virtual del patrimoni arqueològic industrial de Vilanova i la Geltrú: activitat pesquera de la costa marítima de Vilanova i la Geltrú a finals del segle XIX
Authors: Talavera Carrasco, Isidro
Title: Gestió i cronometratge per a competicions esportives
Authors: Pujadas Morilla, Albert; Gambin Canela, Sergi
Title: Weak measurements with orbital-angular-momentum pointer states
Authors: Puentes, G.; Hermosa, N.; Pérez Torres, Juan
Abstract: Weak measurements are a unique tool for accessing information about weakly interacting quantum
systems with minimal back action. Joint weak measurements of single-particle operators with pointer
states characterized by a two-dimensional Gaussian distribution can provide, in turn, key information
about quantum correlations that can be relevant for quantum information applications. Here we
demonstrate that by employing two-dimensional pointer states endowed with orbital angular momentum
(OAM), it is possible to extract weak values of the higher order moments of single-particle operators, an
inaccessible quantity with Gaussian pointer states only. We provide a specific example that illustrates the
advantages of our method both in terms of signal enhancement and information retrieval.

Title: Impact of the observation geometry on the GNSS-R direct descriptors used for sea state monitoring
Authors: Valencia Domenech, Enric; Camps Carmona, Adriano José; Hyuk, Park; Rodriguez Alvarez, N.; Ramos Pérez, Isaac
Abstract: In recent years GNSS-R has been proposed for ocean remote
sensing, both for altimetry and scatterometry. For the later,
two main approaches are available: fitting the measurements
with a model, or using some observable from the measurements
(either the waveform or the delay-Doppler Map) to be
directly linked to ocean surface’s roughness. For groundbased
and airborne experiments, several direct observables
have been proposed to describe ocean surface’s roughness,
and they have been used assuming that the observation geometry
had little impact on them. However, it may not be
true for a spaceborne scenario, since the dynamics are higher.
In this work an extensive simulation study is performed, and
the first results on how the observation geometry does impact
different GNSS-R direct observables is presented.
Title: Slew-rate and efficiency trade-off in slow envelope tracking power amplifiers
Authors: Gilabert Pinal, Pere Lluís; Montoro López, Gabriel; Vizarreta Paz, Pedro Pablo
Abstract: This paper presents a study on the trade-off between the envelope's slew-rate and the drain efficiency when slower envelopes are considered to dynamically supply the power amplifier (PA). This paper discusses a method to limit the slew-rate (and consequently the bandwidth) of the signal's envelope. Moreover, since the envelope tracking (ET) technique using a slower version of the original envelope introduces nonlinear distortion, slow envelope dependent predistortion has to be also incorporated in the design of ET PAs. Experimental results showed that it is possible to find a compromise between the bandwidth and slew-rate reduction (necessary to cope with the specific envelope amplifier requirements) and the amount of drain efficiency degradation suffered due to the use of a slower version of the original envelope.

Title: Effects of the addition of simple and double decoys on the purchasing process of airline tickets
Authors: González Prieto, David; Sallán Leyes, José María; Simó Guzmán, Pep; Carrion, Raimon
Abstract: Air ticket purchases can be considered to be based on sequential decision-making processes with a limited number of alternatives with clearly identified product attributes. With this scenario, decoy contextual effects could potentially be useful in increasing the profitability of each choice set through driving the attention of the users to a particular alternative by changing their perceptions, such as the perceived attractiveness of particular options, to benefit one specific alternative. This study validates the efficiency of the addition of decoy options in increasing the proportion of users who select the target option in a choice set and introduces, theoretically and empirically, the use of double decoys. Three distinct hypothetical choice sets are configured using two different types of decoy.
Title: EMI performance comparison of two-level and three-level inverters in small dc-link capacitors based motor drives
Authors: Maheshwari, RamKrishan; Munk-Nielsen, Stig; Busquets Monge, Sergio
Abstract: The size of passive components in an adjustable speed drive can be reduced by using small dc-link capacitors. The EMI filter in the drive also consists of passive components. The size of the filter can be reduced by using a three-level inverter, which can have low output voltage distortion. However, the three-level inverter based on small dc-link capacitors requires a PWM strategy to maintain neutral-point voltage balance. In this paper, the common mode voltage, which is the determining factor for the EMI filter size, is analyzed for a virtual-vector-based PWM strategy. The common mode voltage, the shaft voltage, and the conducted emission for the small dc-link capacitor based three-level inverter are compared with that of the two-level inverter operated with space vector PWM strategy. Experimental results for the common mode voltage, the shaft voltage, and the conducted emission are presented. Results show that the conducted emission from the three-level inverter is lower than that of the two-level inverter. Thus, a three-level inverter requires a smaller EMI filter in motor drives with small dc-link capacitors.

Title: The three-layer architectural pattern applied to plug-in-based architectures : the Eclipse case
Authors: Ameller, David; Collell, Oriol; Franch Gutiérrez, Javier
Abstract: The process of designing a software architecture using different kinds of components is often challenging. Different designs support some quality attributes while damaging others; therefore, trade-off analysis is needed to make informed decisions. Moreover, analysis made in theory needs to be complemented with observations in practice, especially when using a particular set of technologies to implement the system. In this paper, we present a particular instance of this problem. We study how the Three-Layer architectural pattern may be developed using plug-ins. We compare two extreme alternatives according to several representative scenarios and their impact in some quality attributes. Then, we apply this theoretical knowledge to a case study, the implementation of a plug-in-based tool for managing architectural knowledge using Eclipse. We report some unexpected difficulties found that forced us to adapt the theoretical solution into an operative architecture.

Title: Analisys and energy saving measures of kastvallen ice hockey rink arena
Authors: Igual Bueno, Mario; Bielsa Azcona, José Enrique
Abstract: Nowadays efficiency measures are more and more important because the price of the energy is
increasing every year. Moreover, saving energy it is also important for decrease the
environmental impact.
Kastvallen is a hockey arena built in 1997 that cools the hockey rink with electric compressors.
The changing rooms are heating by using district heating. Actually the total invoice of
electricity is above the 800000 SEK. Meanwhile the district heating invoice reaches the
60000SEK. The aim of this project is reducing the amount of the electricity and heat invoice
promoting smart energy improvements.
The improvements proposals can be divided in three sections; energy savings of the changing
rooms, efficiency increase of the compressors and dehumidifier energy savings.
For heat the tap water and the changing room’s ventilation it is suggested to take profit from the
heat released at the condenser and so reduce its heat load requirements. For this proposal two
different configurations are studied.
In order to increase the efficiency of the compressors the possibility of reducing the condenser
temperature will be studied. Three proposals will be studied to carry out this commitment;
Installing a condensing temperature control, installing a evaporate cooler and having a snow
storage.
Finally, one of the largest consumers of electricity in Kastvallen ice hockey rink is the
dehumidifier. The current dehumidifier works with a desiccant wheel. The desiccant material
extract the moisture from the processed air flow, after that the desiccant has to be reactivated
with ‘fresh air’. This reactivation air needs to be heated 95ºC, so the waste air released after the
reactivation of the desiccant is air at high temperature.
The first proposal is preheat the reactivation air with the hot waste air in order to reduce the
heating requirements. The second step is studied the possibility of heating the air with district
heating, taking into account that district heating is three times cheaper than electricity. The last
proposal is to combine preheating and heating with district heating.
All the previous energy improvements proposals are studied with empirical and analytical
methods and using the knowledge gained during the previous years of studies. The study concludes that the best proposal for the dehumidifier is combine the preheating and
heating with district heating. For the refrigeration cycle, the study concludes that installing a
controlled temperature control is the best option if the price of that is lower than 334726 SEK. If
not the best option is heating the rooms and the ventilation with the condenser of the
refrigeration cycle. These measures could reduce between 8% and 20% of the total energy
invoice. Evaporative cooling and snow storage would be studying after with the data of the first
year of the condensing temperature control; if it is installed.
Title: A suitable criterion for tube sizing in reverse cycle machines
Authors: del Rivero Vilà, Oriol
Abstract: To find the optimal diameters for the connecting tubes in reverse cycle machines we use in this paper a new criterion that we have recently developed, the Ecological Cost, “EC" (Kheiri et al. 2011) EC includes the environmental cost, in CO2 equivalent, of the exergy destroyed by head losses in the tubes and the refrigerant mass GWP (Global Warming Potential) in the same tubes, which is also provided by CO2 equivalent. Leakage effect can also be included in EC. We develop an expression for the optimal tube diameter on this basis. We consider simple cases with no heat exchange and single-phase fluid flows.
